Manual of Nursing Practice

Preface
I had the recent pleasure (over the past couple of years) of celebrating a number of milestones—30 years in nursing; 25 years since achieving my BSN degree; 20 years since becoming a nurse practitioner; as well as a milestone birthday and wedding anniversary. I am proud of all of these monumentous occasions for their face value and for what they represent in accomplishments. The number of people I have touched in my nursing career is difficult to determine. The impact I have had on them is incalculable. The impact they have had on me is priceless.
It is with this history and the collective experience of 70 contributors that we present to you the ninth edition of the Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice. This manual is meant to guide students and nurses in every setting and specialty. The focus is on the art and science of nursing, with clinical and scientific evidence to back up medical—as well as psychosocial—interventions that help people improve on the wellness continuum.
